Tips and tricks to combat the “post-vacation blues”

Coming back from holidays isn’t easy and at Crowne Plaza Barcelona we know it. Getting back into routine and returning to our day to day life after a long period of relaxing and enjoying, can make it quite uphill for everyone. Either if you have been travelling around the world this summer or if you’ve simply stayed at home resting, here are some of our tips to combat those post-vacation blues and try and make your life back to routine as easy as posible!

 

1. Frame your memories
Pick up a pen and paper to express everything that you’ve lived. Put together your words with photographs, write down the name of the song that was playing in that moment and make sure you collect those special moments that will make you smile.

 

2. Organize fun plans
Going back to work after the holidays can make us feel a bit down. For that reason it is important to have short-term plans that will keep us motivated throughout the following months. A weekend getaway, dinner with friends or throwing a party are great options!

 

3. Get back on a schedule
During the holidays your timetable is probably way different to the usual. We get to go to bed late, wake up even later, eat whenever and more than once such a relaxed state will take us to sleep early. So before you go back to your routine, try and organize your days so that you slowly get back to normal hours and having your usual schedule.

 

4. Ten minutes in bed
When you start again with your routine don’t start with a hurry. Make sure you stay 10 minutes more in bed when you wake up in order to slowly start your day, meditate and steel yourself for a new day with new responsibilities and challenges. We’re sure that starting your days like this will make them much easier and pleasant!

 

5. Piano, piano… on your first day back at work
Take your first day back at work easy and with patience, and don’t let stress take over your workspace. Pay attention to changes and movements that have occurred while you were away and confront every situation with your best energy!

 

6. Organize your tasks
After having been away for a long time it is basic to start by organizing your ideas. Make sure before you get started with anything else that you organize your tasks so that nothing skips your hands. In your notebook, a calendar or on your phone, it will definitely be of much help.

 

7. Move your body!
Being active again is essential, so make sure you go back to doing sport in order to burn that energy and combat those blues after the holidays. It works!

 

8. Eat healthy
Eating a healthy and balanced diet will not only benefit us but it will help us feel good with ourselves too. Leave aside for a while those drinks, vermouths, beers, snacks and ice creams and fill your fridge and pantry with fresh fruit, veggies, meat or fish.

 

9. Moderate caffeine
Caffeine works to wake us up but an excessive consumption can lead us to have more stress and anxiety. By moderating your intake of coffee or tea it will enable you to get back to work without any alterations or extra nervousness.

 

10. Think positive
Yes, the holidays are over but that shouldn’t be such a big drama! Think positive thoughts: “Today the sun is shining bright”, “I’m so ready to take over the world!” or “I can’t wait to see all my friends!” will definitely help to bring a smile to your face and fight any negative impacts.

 

As you can see these are just some of the tips that will get you back on track and combat those post-holiday blues. The secret lies in listening to yourself and doing what your body really asks for in order to recover your personal wellbeing. Slowly this path will take you to have a permanent smile when you wake up and go back to your everyday routine.

Tips and advantages of sun bathing this summer in Barcelona, and getting a tan like nobody else!
